Which curtain to choose?

The curtain is an important room designer in creating the right interior for the room. When choosing a curtain, it is worth considering both the aesthetics and the purpose of the curtain. Functional curtains such as blinds, vertical blinds and strip curtains help to regulate the amount of heat and light in a room, as well as providing privacy from the outside world. Functional curtains are perfect for the home or office and to complement textile curtains.

What to consider when choosing curtains?

When choosing a curtain, it’s important to think things through first:
Where to install the curtain?
What functionality should a cardinal have?
Is a single curtain enough or can you combine different types?

WHERE TO INSTALL THE CURTAIN AND HOW TO TAKE THE MEASUREMENTS?

Our specialists will help you choose the right window covering and take the necessary measurements!

There are several ways to install a curtain:

  • Window frame – To install the curtain on the window frame, the measurements must be taken from the width between the height of the window frame and the outer edges of the glazing beads. Cassette roller blinds are usually placed on the window frame, so that they form a whole with the window and do not distract the eye. Some differences must be taken into account when measuring mini-cassette rolls. Determine the height and width of the glazing bead at the break point, i.e. the point where the bead turns from the plane of the frame towards the glass. In addition, measure the distance of the glass from the plane of the frame.
  • Inside the window opening – Normal blinds, vertical blinds or curtains are placed in front of the window opening. It is important to ensure that the curtain in front of the window opening does not interfere with the opening of the window. For this purpose, there must be at least 6-7 cm of free space between the window frame and the edge of the window opening, in the case of a window opening inwards. Take the dimensions of the window opening from the top, the middle and the height of the edge. Just in case, measure all the walls around the window, as there may be unevenness. Take the smallest results from the measurements obtained.
  • On the wall in front of the window opening – Textile curtains are usually installed on the wall in front of the window opening. To choose the right size curtain, measure the width and height of the opening. According to these dimensions, you can decide the length and width of the curtain you want. Be sure to take into account the additional height of the curtain rod. Minimum recommended dimensions when installing curtains in front of an opening:
    • Roller blinds: opening width + 10cm , opening height + 10cm
    • Aluminium curtains: opening width + 5cm, opening height + 10cm
    • Wooden strip curtains: opening width + 5cm, opening height + 20 – 30cm ( height of the raised curtain package ).
    • Vertical blinds: opening width + 30cm, opening height + 10cm

CASETTRULOOD

Roller blinds are extremely practical window coverings that protect rooms from overheating insummer and keep warm in winter. In the case of a cassette roller, the chain mechanism is housed in a special cassette which is mounted on the window frame together with the frame. This installation method makes the roller blind almost invisible and fully compatible with the window frame. The roller blind mounted on the window frame does not interfere with the opening of the window and the frame holds the curtain firmly in place when the window is opened upwards.

Cassette blinds are suitable as a stand-alone window covering or in combination with decorative textile curtains. A wide range of materials is available, from plain and decorative fabrics to functional thermal fabrics. Roller blind fixing cassettes are available in 2 colours – white and brown. Cassette blinds are suitable for all types of windows.

CURTAINS WITH VERTICAL BLINDS

Vertical blinds are a practical window covering that perfectly regulates the amount of light and warmth in a room and ensures privacy. Vertical blinds have a strong line and create an interesting interplay of shadows as the light falls on the walls. Thanks to their functionality and a wide choice of materials, slats are a popular choice in both the home and the office. Often, vertical blinds are used to cover large windows.

INSTALLATION AND MANAGEMENT

The vertical luminaire rotates 180° on its axis, allowing light to be directed in very different ways. The curtains can be installed in a window opening, on a wall or on the ceiling and are controlled by a cord, chain or remote-controlled electric actuator. Remote control is a good choice for large spaces where manual control is not possible or inconvenient. A ballast on the vertical axis is used to rotate the slats and direct the light.

MANAGEMENT

In addition to their functionality, the slat curtains are easy to maintain. Dirty fabric can be cleaned with a damp cloth. A detergent can be used to clean plastic slats.

MATERIALS

There is a very wide range of materials for curtains. Different functional materials are used, such as thermal fabric, blackout fabric, screen fabric, etc.

LIBRARY

Strip curtains are strip curtains with clear lines, which we are most used to seeing as office window coverings. In reality, strip curtains also have a softer look, for example, wooden window coverings create a natural and cosy ambience that is perfect for a home environment. Strip curtains help to regulate the temperature of a room, provide privacy, are an interior design element and protect the room from sunlight.

INSTALLATION AND MANAGEMENT

Strip curtains are installed in the window opening or in the ceiling in front of the opening, in some cases they can also be installed between the window panes. The strip curtains are moved up and down by means of a guide rope, chain or electric drive on the side. The strips also move horizontally, which allows you to adjust the amount of light in the room and make the room sheltered from prying eyes. By changing the position of the stripes, it is possible to create interesting light patterns on the walls.

MANAGEMENT

Curtain maintenance is very easy. Regular sweeping with a dust cloth or soft brush will keep your window covering clean. In case of heavy dirt, clean gently with a damp cloth.

MATERIALS

Strip curtains are available in 2 material options:

  • Aluminium
  • Puit

RULOOD

A roller blind is a functional window covering that protects against sunlight, regulates the room temperature, provides privacy and is an interior design element. It is available in a wide range of materials, allowing it to be used as an eye-catching stand-alone window covering or in combination with other window coverings and curtains. The combination of blinds with textile curtains is particularly popular, where the former has functional qualities and the latter sets the ambience of the room. Roller blinds are suitable for both the home and formal spaces. Also in places where the use of window screens is not possible, such as glazed balconies or kitchen windows.

INSTALLATION AND MANAGEMENT

Roller blinds can be installed in a window opening, on a wall or ceiling. Guidance is by means of a chain or spring mechanism. For large blinds or in hard-to-reach areas, we recommend the use of electric drive control.

MANAGEMENT

Roller curtains require little maintenance as they remain dust-free for long periods of time. A light dusting with a duster or, in the case of stains, wiping with a damp cloth is sufficient for cleaning.

MATERIALS

There is a wide range of materials for roller blinds, with strong and durable fabrics being used in most cases:

  • Plain semi-darkened fabrics
  • Fabrics with semi-darkening pattern
  • Semi-opaque light-reflecting fabrics
  • Monochrome blackout fabrics
  • Fabrics with a blinding pattern
  • Screen-fabric
  • Puit
  • Bamboo

The semi-dark fabric blind is translucent. A blind made of blackout fabric does not allow light to pass through and is blackout. The blackout fabric is perfect for a bedroom or children’s room.
